Business Goals & Project Overview

Business Goals

StreamBase needed to transition from traditional, hardware-heavy AV distribution to a modern, software-defined IP architecture. The client faced significant market pressure to provide scalable, ultra-low latency streaming that could replace rigid matrix switchers. Their primary goal was to develop a centralized, robust platform capable of managing complex, high-performance AV installations while ensuring seamless, reliable communication across diverse, multi-device network environments.

Project Overview

WebMob delivered a comprehensive, software-defined AV distribution platform that replaces legacy matrix switchers with a scalable, IP-based architecture. By leveraging Electron and React, we engineered a centralized desktop application that enables real-time management of encoders and decoders. This solution empowers the client to offer high-performance streaming, remote diagnostics, and automated workflows to their customers.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenges Faced and Conquered

The client faced critical technical hurdles that threatened the reliability and performance of their AV distribution platform during high-demand operations.

The Challenge

Unstable Real-Time Communication

Complex socket communication between multiple devices frequently suffered from delays and packet loss, leading to system instability and poor performance during live streaming sessions.

Our Solution

We implemented a chunked data processing system that efficiently manages large socket responses, ensuring smooth, real-time communication and eliminating performance bottlenecks across the network.

The Challenge

Complex Desktop App Packaging

The client struggled to package their Electron application for various operating systems, resulting in inconsistent deployments and difficult dependency management across different user environments.

Our Solution

We adopted Electron Builder to streamline the packaging process, creating platform-specific build scripts that ensure reliable deployment and consistent performance across all target operating systems.

The Challenge

Inefficient Installer Deployment

Manual installation processes and complex environment configurations hindered the client's ability to deploy their software efficiently, leading to a poor experience for end-users.

Our Solution

We engineered a custom Inno Setup installer that automates the deployment of prerequisites like Node.js and MongoDB, significantly simplifying the setup process for the client's customers.

Features Implemented

Key Features & Functionality

  • Key Features & Functionality
  1. Dashboard

WebMob engineered an intuitive interface for managing AV devices through drag-and-drop connectivity. This enables the client to provide users with rapid deployment capabilities and real-time signal monitoring.

  2. Videowall

We built a configuration panel that simplifies multi-screen synchronization for command centers. This feature allows the client to offer impactful visual experiences without requiring a steep learning curve.

  3. Serial Routing

This module utilizes RS-232 for two-way communication with legacy hardware. WebMob designed the interface to streamline routing and troubleshooting, enhancing the client's support for older AV equipment.

  4. Macros Module

We developed an automation engine that records and executes repetitive commands with one click. This allows the client to provide users with highly adaptable and efficient workflow management tools.

  5. Firmware Module

WebMob created a centralized module for individual or bulk firmware updates. This ensures the client's devices maintain peak performance, security, and compatibility through seamless, automated software maintenance.

  6. Rapid Deployment

The CSV-based configuration tool allows for simultaneous setup of multiple devices. WebMob engineered this to ensure consistency across large-scale installations, drastically reducing manual configuration errors for the client.

  7. EDID Module

We built an editor for managing video and audio resolutions across the network. This enables the client to guarantee optimal display compatibility and performance for diverse hardware configurations.

  8. Diagnostic Mode

This feature provides real-time hardware metrics and system health alerts. WebMob designed it to offer the client remote maintenance capabilities, reducing the need for costly on-site technical support.

  9. PiP Mode

We engineered a Picture-in-Picture mode that allows multiple video streams on a single display. This enhances the client's value proposition for complex monitoring and multitasking in professional environments.

  10. KMOIP

WebMob implemented remote KVM control over IP to support high-resolution input. This allows the client to provide remote power cycling and diagnostics, eliminating the need for physical maintenance.

  11. Audio Settings

The audio panel provides granular control over volume and output formats. We integrated Dante CODEC support, enabling the client to deliver high-performance networked audio for professional AV installations.

  12. IR Commands

We developed an IR learning system that maps remote commands to system functions. This allows the client to provide users with simplified, unified control over diverse AV hardware components.
