Project Overview

MomPox is a smart travel app that helps tourists easily explore the historic city. From local services, events, crafts, hotel and restaurants bookings, smart points and AR murals, the online travel guide gives an immersive experience to rome around in the Columbian city. The tourist app has many more intuitive features like curated routes, access to local tour guides, interact with city smart murals with AR, and more. A traveler learns about the history, culture, and stories of a place in one app. The app to travel Mompox leverages to preserve their heritage and promote tourism.

Challenges

Custom Google Maps Styling

• Applying a color tint to the Google Maps was a task.

• We had to lure users into the Smart city app and the trick to do it was to add such functions and impart great experience.

• Making the map visually appealing while maintaining usability required custom styling.

Map Zoom and Centering

• As per the location, a user must be able to zoom into the map and get a specific area without an obstructed button sheet.

• The map was suppose to be in the center, overriding the default zoom behavior.

• This made it bit tough to implement in the app.

Our Solution

Custom Map Aesthetics

• Our team had to custom build its features to make Google Maps more attractive.

• As per the design needs, the team modified the map aesthetics with JSON styling.

• With all the necessary tests, we ensured to obtain great map experience with filtered colors and other elements like landmarks, water, etc., in a more enhanced way.

Custom Zoom Algorithm

• A custom algorithm was made to calculate the optimal zoom level of the map.

• The algorithm accounted for the bottom sheet size and position, ensuring the map viewport consistently displayed key areas without interference.

• This approach enabled precise control over the map zoom and centering, providing a smooth and user-friendly experience.

Features Implemented

Mompox Inteligente includes a range of features designed to help tourists explore and experience the historic city of Mompox.

1. Routes to Places

A user can search and reach a certain location by using the navigation across the city. Also, the homepage allows users to explore specific aspects of Mompox on a single click. With the help of module selection, one comes to know about specific hotels, wifi zones, events, etc.

2. Weather Updates

Daily weather updates, forecasts, other info, specific location weather, etc., for Mompox city is seen by a user in the app. Real time update to tailor make the tourist plans in action is soul goal of this feature.

3. Itinerary

The travel app of Mompox gets a user a personal travel plan. It is all done based on the preferences and interests of a user. One can easily browse, select, and book the hotels, restaurants, etc. It gives a great experience and access to all the other events, activities, festivals, etc., that are suppose to happen as a part of real time updates.

4. Smart Murals

With an intuitive AR scanner, users can explore varied Smart Murals & Smart Points. All the murals are added by the admin and access info about the artwork. However, the functions are available on Android devices with AR support and interact with other user compatible devices.

5. Smart Points

It allows users to view a significant location added by admin. One has to choose a smart point, users receive a precise route to navigate across the city.
