Business Goals & Project Overview

Business Goals

Updur sought to disrupt the traditional recruitment landscape by replacing static paper resumes with dynamic video content. The client faced significant pressure to differentiate their platform in a crowded HR market while ensuring that high-bandwidth video assets did not compromise the user experience. They needed a robust, scalable application that could facilitate seamless professional networking and candidate evaluation for recruiters.

Project Overview

WebMob Technologies engineered a comprehensive video-centric recruitment platform for Updur, designed to bridge the gap between candidates and recruiters through intuitive visual storytelling. By leveraging Flutter for cross-platform consistency, we delivered a high-performance application that enables candidates to showcase their expertise through recorded video resumes.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenges Faced and Conquered

The client faced critical technical hurdles that threatened to undermine user retention and the professional viability of their video-first recruitment platform.

The Challenge

Optimising Video Playback Latency

High latency in video loading created a significant barrier to user engagement, as recruiters and candidates abandoned the platform when content failed to play within a ten-second window.

Our Solution

We implemented a sophisticated video caching and preloading architecture that buffers the subsequent three videos in a sequence, ensuring near-instant playback and a seamless browsing experience.

The Challenge

Reliable Video Content Editing

The client required a way for users to edit video submissions, but managing unwanted footage and ensuring smooth, reliable trimming within the application proved technically complex.

Our Solution

We integrated FFmpeg functionality with a custom slider interface, allowing users to precisely define start and end points for automated, server-side video processing and clean uploads.

  1. Create/Upload Video

WebMob engineered a robust recording interface that supports video durations up to ninety seconds. This enables candidates to produce professional content with custom titles, descriptions, and relevant metadata tags.

  2. Feed

We developed a dynamic feed that allows recruiters to scroll through candidate videos efficiently. This feature facilitates direct contact and enables the immediate saving of profiles for future consideration.

  3. Experience Sharing

This module enables users to share professional insights and ideas through video. It fosters community engagement by allowing peers to interact via likes, shares, and comments on shared content.

  4. Saved Videos

We built a folder-based management system for recruiters to organize and shortlist candidates. This allows for seamless collaboration by enabling the sharing of curated candidate folders with other recruiters.

  5. Refer

WebMob implemented a referral mechanism that allows users to share candidate videos across the platform or via external messaging apps. This increases the reach of high-quality professional profiles.

  6. Search

We designed a powerful search engine that allows recruiters to filter candidates by hashtags, video types, or titles. This ensures that specific talent can be located quickly and accurately.

  7. Follow/Following

This feature allows users to track their preferred content creators. It ensures that relevant professional content is prioritized in the user feed, enhancing the visibility of top-tier talent.

  8. Profile

We created a comprehensive profile architecture that displays bios, skills, and resumes. It serves as a central hub for viewing uploaded videos and endorsements received from other platform users.

  9. Testimonials

This feature allows users to share video endorsements for colleagues. It enables the highlighting of top recommendations, providing social proof of a candidate's achievements and professional reputation.

  10. Trending Video

We engineered a trending algorithm that identifies high-engagement content based on tags and views. This highlights popular videos with a visual indicator and displays real-time concurrent viewer counts.
